The Title and Abstract Submission site for oral paper and poster presentations is available after October 15th on the Academy web site – https://www.alabamaacademyofscience.org. All titles and abstracts must be SUBMITTED ONLINE, https://www.alabamaacademyofscience.org/aas-abstract-submission/, by January 15, 2024. All presenters must register for the meeting. At least one author of a paper or poster presentation must be a member of the Academy. Please see https://www.alabamaacademyofscience.org/join-aas-2/ to easily complete the membership application and pay online. Student members’ papers and/or posters are entered in the Student Paper and Poster Competition (see Academy web site for requirements), and winners will be announced at the banquet for each section and receive cash awards. Competition winners are encouraged to submit a full paper for publication in the Journal of the Alabama Academy of Science.
Follow the directions given on the site for listing the title, presenter’s name, coauthors, and official title of the institution, company, or organization. All presenters must register for the meeting. This will assure accurate listing of your presentation in the online and hard copies of the program. The online version of the program will be the official version of the program for the annual meeting and should be available on the Academy website two weeks prior to the meeting. Directions concerning poster size requirements can be found on the website.

STUDENT GRANTS AND AWARDS
All Travel and Research Grants applications must be done online, http://alabamaacademyofscience.org, and meet all of the posted eligibility requirements. Hard-copy submissions are not accepted.
You will receive an email confirmation for all applications. If you do not receive email confirmation within one week, please contact the Chair (Brian Burnes, bburnes01@gmail.com) as soon as possible. All posted deadlines will be strictly enforced.
TRAVEL GRANTS
Limited nominal travel grants will be available to student members who otherwise would not be able to attend the Annual Meeting of the Academy. Grant amounts are determined by distance of travel to the meeting and do not cover lodging. Priority will be given to applications submitted by students who will present a paper and/or poster at the Annual Meeting. Online submission deadline is February 15, 2024. Checks for awarded travel grants will be available for pick-up at the meeting registration desk.
RESEARCH GRANTS
Research grants, in amounts usually not exceeding $250, are available for student members’ projects that meet eligibility requirements. Online submission deadline is February 1, 2025.
PAPER AND POSTER COMPETITION AWARDS
All student member paper and poster submissions are automatically entered in the Paper and Poster Competition. The author(s) of the winning papers or posters will be announced and award checks presented at the AAS Annual Banquet. All competition winners are encouraged to publish their papers in the Journal of the Alabama Academy of Science.
