Dear Alabama Students, Postdocs, Faculty, and Administrators:
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Dana Waller, Outreach Coordinator for the NSF EPSCoR CPU2AL Project. I would like to inform you that the abstract submission is open for the (virtual) Science and Technology Open House (STOH) sponsored by the NSF EPSCoR CPU2AL project. Please share this announcement with any potential students, colleagues, or research collaborators at Alabama universities who might benefit from this opportunity.

Students from across Alabama are strongly encouraged to present posters to showcase their research and the best posters will receive awards. The registration is of course free. The event will be part of our project’s Annual Meeting and take place on October 22nd.

Accepted presenters will need to upload their poster and record a short 5 minute talk about their poster. Details about the poster format will be included in the acceptance email and recording of your talk will take place in our online system. The deadline for poster uploads will be October 19th.

Acceptance of submissions will occur incrementally until all available slots are filled, so be sure to submit your abstract as soon as possible to secure your spot.

To participate, please go to the following link, create a profile and submit a short abstract that describes what you want to present in your poster.

Spanish Language Science Resources/ Recursos científicos para hispanohablantes

This month is Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated throughout the latter half of September and the first half of October. It is a way to promote the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic-Americans!

AAAS STEM Education is working on two collections of resources to engage with Spanish-native language communities:

  1. Created Spanish-language STEM/CTIM (ciencias, tecnologías, ingenierías, y matemáticas) resources for teachers, students, families, and caregiers. Check out the resource library collection: https://www.sbfprize.org/recursos
  2. We continue to compile free CTIM educational resources: Recopilación de recursos – AAAS/Subaru Prize for Excellence in Science Books.
